Shop, Play and Stay – Kerikeri is the centre of it all here in the Bay of Islands

Heres a helpful article from a New Zealand Herald publication…

From ice-cold beers overlooking the Kerikeri inlet at the Plough and Feather gastro pub  to a quiet little Pinot Griggio at our favourite wine bar, Ferment, to ‘tea and scones’ at waterfall locations , let us point you in the right direction.

Kerikeri is the beating heart of the Bay of Islands, about 50 minutes from Russell  and 30 minutes from  Paihia / Waitangi.

Voted “Best Small Town in New Zealand” on several occasions, this is the place to base yourself for a more local vibe.

The world class walking tracks bounding the Kerikeri River systems will take your breath away and all surrounding your accommodation at STAY KERIKERI.

STAY KERIKERI is with in strolling distance from the lovely Kerikeri Village with the nearest supermarket only 400 meters away and the historic Stone Store area only 15 minutes walk.  With a stunning little café right next door and beauty spa just up the road you are definitely well served via our great location in the vibrant centre of Kerikeri with its bars and cafes.

Kerikeri waterfall walking track system

Kerikeri is blessed with a unique and world class river system,  eventually running out to the sea to the Bay of Islands at the Historic Stone Store area and the fabulous Plough and Feather Gastro pub.

The Department of Conservation as well as private individuals and community organisations, ‘up keep’ these tracks which provide users with an easy stroll – and just minutes to town.  The Rainbow Falls track system runs downwards towards the Stone Store area where there is beautiful scenery and cafes to quench your thirst.  Our tip: put a few dollars in your pocket for a boutique beer to reward your self with at the bottom of the track in the Kerikeri Basin area.  We more than happy to drop you off at the head of the track at Rainbow Falls so you can simply walk “home” without the hassle of going back to pick your car up.

Take a look at these walks in detail.
